Join Us: Long Term Guest Program
A Long-Term Guest is a woman seeking to deepen her spiritual life, grow in her relationship with Jesus, and further develop her habits of prayer, but who is not a potential candidate for membership in our community. If admitted to the program, she lives in our community for 6-12 weeks, participating fully in our life.
The Long-Term Guest works with the community in the morning and has the
afternoon free for prayer, reading, walking, etc. The morning work
serves as reimbursement, and we do not ask any additional fee. If the
guest prefers to not to work, we charge for room and board. But as work
is essential to the balance of our life, we recommend most guests to
join in our work.
The Long-Term Guest is expected to participate in the Eucharist and the
Divine Office, unless she and the abbess discern that it would be
better to limit her participation in daily Vigils. She is also expected
to follow our way of life, including remaining on our grounds and
limiting her contact with the outside, so that she may focus on her
relationship with God.
The Long-Term Guest Coordinator provides orientation to the guest and
ongoing help with her needs. When desired, we also proved some guidance
in prayer and the spiritual life. The program is not a retreat and it
includes both community interaction and a sometimes busy schedule. It
also incorporates silence and solitude and a prayerful atmosphere.
A Long-Term Guest must be able to relate well with others and to use
fruitfully quiet time alone. She must have good emotional and physical
health, and be free of obligations that would require absences from the
community.
For further information please contact our Long-Term Guest Coordinator.
